Some of the following organizations are strong partners with Bread & Roses. Some are just really great allies & friends!
Family Support Center
The Family Support Center serves low-income families and families in crisis. Really awesome homeless services program with high-quality case management services and a volunteer driven shelter program. The Family Support Center is a recognized leader among homeless service providers for strong community engagement and participation in collaborative service-continuum planning. The FSC’s Executive Director, Schelli Slaughter, also volunteers for Bread & Roses as a member of our board of directors.
Full Disclosure: Phil Owen, volunteer host at B&R and administrator of this website, is also an employee in the FSC’s homeless services office… So if the brown-nosing here seems a little overbearing, you can just bet that Phil is aiming for a raise.
Capital Clubhouse
The Capital Clubhouse is a member-operated mental health recovery organization. The Clubhouse picked up the mail, laundry voucher, and shower voucher services that used to be offered by the former Bread & Roses Advocacy Center. We are grateful for the Clubhouse’s willingness to jump in and help! Shannon Ford, the programs manager at the Clubhouse, also volunteers for Bread & Roses as a member of our board of directors.
Out of the Woods Shelter
The Out of the Woods Shelter serves homeless families with children. The structure of the organization looks a lot like our own House of Hospitality – the shelter is a home on the west side of Olympia, and is staffed by a live-in volunteer. It offers a home-centered environment for homeless families to regain stability. Selena Kilmoyer, the live-in volunteer and director of OOW, also volunteers for Bread & Roses as a member of our board of directors.
