Matthew Green, President

Matthew is a professional political campaign manager and teaches political science at Gray’s Harbor Community College.  He earned his B.A. at The Evergreen State College and a Master’s degree in Political Science from Harvard University.  Matthew served one term on the Olympia City Council.

Matthew brings to Bread & Roses his extraordinary skills in fundraising and volunteer recruitment and management.

Schelli Slaughter, Vice President

Schelli is the Executive Director of the Family Support Center and a long time advocate for low-income families.  Schelli has very strong skills in non-profit administration and financial management.

Chris Bauermeister, Treasurer

Chris is a professional academic (he wrote his Master’s thesis on the German administrative systems of the 18th century) with knowledge in public administration and accounting.  Quite literally a rock star (he plays the bass guitar), Chris draws a steady income from royalties on his music.

Chris is a long-time, dedicated supporter of Bread & Roses and is responsible for bringing our accounting practices into the 21st century.

Selena Kilmoyer, Secretary

Selena is the Executive Director (and live-in volunteer) of the Out-of-the-Woods family shelter, and a former Bread & Roses live-in volunteer host (2001-2007).  Selena brings decades of experience in advocacy for marginalized peoples, and extensive experience in non-profit administration.

Lara Foster, Stakeholder Representative

Lara is a former guest of Bread & Roses and a very active volunteer with the Women’s Guesthouse.  She is insightful and outspoken, and her experience at the Guesthouse is an invaluable contribution to Bread & Roses’ board of directors.

Nanci LaMusga

Nanci was a founding member of the Bread & Roses community in the early 1980’s (she traveled here from the Des Moines Catholic Worker) and has strong nonprofit management experience.

Emily Lardner

Emily co-directs the Washington Center for Improving the Quality of Undergraduate Education – a public service center at The Evergreen State College – and is returning to Bread & Roses’ board after a couple years off.

Shannon Ford

Shannon Ford is a program manager at the Capital Clubhouse and got her start in human services as an intern at the Bread & Roses Advocacy Center.
